reads.

I am not the best book reviewer. I am easily amused and find myself proclaiming love for books that others didn’t really care for. So, I decided instead to share my upcoming reads I have picked out for the next couple months. Read along with me if you would like! Let’s talk about them. Spoiler alert, I will most likely love them all. I decided, for the pure sake of making decisions and for order, to pick books in threes.

My first choice for this summer is Ariel by Sylvia Plath.

Ariel, Poetry by Sylvia Plath

This book is a collection of poetry by the late and great Sylvia Plath. They were written in a burst of creativity she had right before her tragic suicide at only 30 years old. She stuck her head in an oven and died of carbon monoxide poisoning after sealing all the doors to her children’s rooms. So sad. I will admit, I began reading this after I started writing this last night and am halfway through it. The whole collection will be a short read. Here is my favorite so far:

Death and Co. by Sylvia Plath

Beautiful aren’t they? Words? I am easily mesmerized.

My next pick is a book that I saw on a must read list for the autumn season that I ordered and never got around to reading. It is “The Witches of New York” by Ami McKay.

The Witches of New York by Ami McKay

The international best seller dips into the lives of a society of withy women in the 1880s around New York City. I can’t wait to get into this one. You guys know how much I love me some witches.

My third pick is “How Should a Person Be?” by Sheila Heti.

How Should a Person Be by Sheila Heti

This one is about a woman’s exploration through her own heart and mind while comparing herself to others around her and deciding how a woman should be. It seems to have some humor to it and looks like a light, enjoyable read, which are my favorite kinds. Throw in some feminist undertones and you’ve got a book I will read over and over. Can’t wait to start it.

If anyone wants to grab these and read along, I’ll be reading them in the above order. Love to all, and happy reading.
